Language Program Coordinator

The role is based out of South Asia.

The purpose of the Language Program Coordinator is to manage the Growing Redemptive Participator Approach language program in South Asia. The Language Program Coordinator will oversee and coordinate Hindi, Nepali, Bengali, and/or Urdu language classes, while managing nurturers and participants through the GRPA language program. This ministry role can be full-time or part-time and support-raising is required. The Language Program Coordinator has the ability to work on-site and from home on a regular basis.


Required Qualifications

  • Must personally embrace GFM’s purpose, vision, values, and statement of faith and identify as a maturing believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Must attend a GRPA Language Learning Advisor Course to understand the framework and core beliefs of the GRPA language program (the “L” piece of the SLICE program)
  • Must have a passion for facilitating language learning and a desire to help others become successful language learners
  • Must view language learning as a ministry in and of itself
  • Must be willing to attend phases 1-3 of the GRPA language program in Hindi, Nepali, or Bengali
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage program budgets and complete monthly reporting
  • Must have experience in project and budget management, human resources, and/or accounting
  • Must possess knowledge/experience in developing and managing community, student/teacher, and employee relationships
  • Must be ready to experience significant missions training and discipleship through the GFM Missionary Training School (in-person sessions or online)
  • Must demonstrate humility, teachability, and an ability to work well with others
  • Must display advanced interpersonal and communication skills (Gmail, Slack, etc.)
  • Must function well both independently and in a team environment

Recommended Experience

  • A College Degree is preferred but not required; informal trainings in language/culture acquisition, teaching, human resource management, leadership, and/or ministry will also be taken into consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interview and assess language program candidates' readiness of language learning and ministry
  • Interview, train, and hire Hindi, Nepali, Bengali, and Urdu nationals as GRPA language nurturers
  • Oversee all ongoing GRPA language class sessions and provide weekly feedback for both the SLICE program participant and the national GRPA language nurturer
  • Sit in on GRPA language classes at least once a week to oversee all Language Learning Assistants (LLA) facilitating the GRPA to affirm that each SLICE program participant is getting the best opportunity to learn their respective language
  • Schedule the GRPA sessions and determine which LLA and nurturers will lead each phase
  • Provide ongoing training, encouragement, and feedback to LLA’s and Nurturers as necessary
  • Schedule biweekly meetings with all GRPA language program participants to assess their progress and determine how to best acquire their target language
  • Oversee finances of the language program, including (but not restricted to) paying nurturers, managing and procuring class materials and resources, making copies, receiving necessary funds from base director or leaders for improvements and/or salaries and balancing the books
  • Liaison with other GFM South Asia leaders regarding the status of the GRPA language program participants and how they are progressing through the program
