Australia has the second highest foreign born population in the world at about 28% The most populated city of Australia is also its most diverse: Sydney. About 5.25 million residents live here, with about 40% being born overseas.
Liverpool is a growing city with up to 45,000 additional homes and almost 140,000 new residents expected in the next 25 years. Diversity is a vital theme of Liverpool, with an amazing harmonious diversity of cultures and religions present in the city.
With one of the most ethnically diverse communities in Sydney, Liverpool is home to 160 different nationalities – representing almost every country in the world and speaking at least 109 different languages.
Although Christianity is the main religion in Liverpool, Hinduism and Islam also have a strong representation. Liverpool also has a rich geographical diversity with rural, residential, commercial and highly populated areas all found in one city.
Working with Refugees
Do you have a heart to help refugees? Welcoming refugees is a great way to be influential in the lives of people from different cultures and faiths. Many refugees have fled persecution and are looking for a fresh start for their families here in Australia. As Christians we have a great opportunity to extend our hand and give help to those who are coming to Australia. If you would like to learn more about how you can love refugees, please contact us.
Empowering the church
We provide training for ethnic churches, empowering them to reach their own people with the Gospel and equipping the missionary with training desired for serving both locally and abroad. We want to see the ethnic churches of Australia empowered to efficiently be a support to their ethnic communities so that people from all nations shall be reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in having your church trained in evangelism and discipleship principles, please contact us.
How can we engage our communities for God’s Kingdom?
The city of Sydney is changing rapidly as it grows in diversity at a rate that we as the church, are finding hard to keep up with. You may be wondering with all the changes taking place in your community, how you can engage the international communities that are right at our doorstep?
Here are some questions you might be asking:
- How do we reach Muslims, Hindus & Buddhists?
- How can we effectively pray for our community?
- How can we meet felt needs in the community?
- Is there a better way to approach sharing the Good News with our neighbours?
These are some of the questions that we believe the churches of Sydney may be asking. We may not have all the answers, but what we do know is that we as followers of Jesus, need to be a living witness to those around us who do not know our Saviour, regardless of their race, language or appearance. We want to help the churches of Sydney answer some of these questions, and together learn how we can engage our communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
If you would like to know more on how to go about reaching your community, we would love to be a support and help you walk through this venture. Please contact us for more information on how we can work together for God’s Kingdom.
You don’t need a passport to reach the nations – just an Opal Card!
All over the world, unreached people groups are coming to our backyard. Here, in Western Sydney, we see the nations coming to our doorsteps. They are working in our cities, building houses of worship, living in our neighbourhoods, and going to our schools. How should we react to this?
Global Frontier Missions strongly believes that our reaction should be one of welcome and celebration. Most of these people have come to us as immigrants, international students or refugees and have never had the chance to hear the good news of Jesus! But how do you begin to talk to them about Jesus? Do you even know what they believe?
During your Backyard Mission experience, we will take you around the city to visit a mosque, a Hindu temple, and/or a Buddhist temple. We will talk about churches and not for profit organisations that are reaching out to internationals in a variety of ways; to explore how you or your group may be able to get involved in the ministry long-term.

Global Frontier Missions is building a team to reach the nations in Southwest Sydney. We are praying for God to rise up Australian labourers consisting of disciple makers, mobilisers, teachers, and people with accounting and administration skills. There is also an opportunity for citizens from New Zealand to join us. Is that you? The first step to join our team is to contact us and let us know of your interest.
Our vision includes having high quality missionary training, life-changing internships, and resources to help equip the ethnic churches of Australia. We are running Backyard Missions to help the local church understand the large and fertile mission field in our own backyard!
