We do not currently have a base in Los Angeles, but we are hoping to start one very soon! Maybe you are one of the laborers we have been praying for to help us get up and running. Are you called to reach the unreached peoples of the world? Do you want to be a part of a movement mobilizing, training, and sending missionaries out to reach people of different faiths (Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists) in southern California and beyond? We are looking for three like-minded couples, families, or singles that have a passion for unreached people groups to help us get this new GFM location off the ground in Los Angeles.
Why Los Angeles? Los Angeles is home to people from more than 140 countries speaking 224 different identified languages. Ethnic enclaves like Chinatown, Historic Filipinotown, Koreatown, Little Armenia, Little Ethiopia, Tehrangeles, Little Tokyo, and Thai Town show how diverse LA really is. Because of Los Angeles’ large multi-ethnic population, a wide variety of faiths are practiced, including Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Sikhism, Bahá’í, various Eastern Orthodox Churches, Sufism and others. Immigrants from Asia for example, have formed a number of significant Buddhist congregations making the city home to the greatest variety of Buddhists in the world. Ethnic LA is leading the charge helping gather all of the data and research concerning all of the different unreached people groups in the area. We hope to take the information and mobilize, train, and multiply laborers all over the city to share Good News with those that have never heard!
The diversity of the Los Angeles area has always been one of its greatest strengths. Los Angeles has the largest Latino population of any major American city. It is also home to more Koreans than any city outside of North and South Korea, and home to more Filipinos than anywhere but Manila. In fact, more than half of the population in the K-12 system is made up of minority groups. As America’s most populated county, L.A. County is also the third-most racially diverse county in the United States. In this multicultural environment, minority business thrives. The Los Angeles area leads the nation for the number of firms owned by several ethnic groups. In fact, nearly four of ten small firms in Los Angeles County are owned by minorities.
