Have you ever thought about electricity? We all encounter the result of electricity everyday. We see light from a light bulb, feel the breeze of a roaring fan, or gain information from a glowing “Open” sign. However, not many of us ever think about the process of creating and distributing electricity. It requires blazing heat, powerful wind, or rushing water in huge structures or areas of land, only to then travel through miles and miles of cords and wires. While this behind-the-scenes process may be easy to overlook, without it we would never have the power electricity provides. Prayer for missions is the same way. While prayer may often be unseen, it is not lacking influence or impact. In fact, often, it is the very thing that fuels the life change that is happening all around the world.
The best part? Praying is a way that every single Christian can get involved in missions. Jesus gave us the Great Commission, telling us to go into “all the world and make disciples of all nations” (Mt. 28:19, 20). He also told us that when we accomplish this task the end will come (Mt. 24:14)! Global Frontier Missions knows that intercessory prayer is a way all believers can get in on the action. We believe prayer will be foundational for seeing the unreached people groups of the world experience God’s glory and see disciple making movements started around the world.
To equip you to pray even more targeted prayers, we have provided the following resources for you. We hope they will enable you, your family, your small group, and your church to be praying for the nations on a regular basis. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send more laborers into the harvest field (Lk. 10:2), but don’t be surprised if while you are praying, you end up being the first one that feels the call to go! (Lk. 10:3)
