Major Gifts Officer - Support Hub

The role is based out of Atlanta, GA.

The purpose of the Major Gifts Officer is to cultivate and steward major partner relationships for GFM. This is a critical and transformative position that will support GFM’s Advancement team in order to significantly grow existing relationships and identify and build new ones. This ministry role is part time and support-raising is encouraged, but payment is provided. The Major Gifts Officer has the ability to work on site and from home on a regular basis. The role is based out of Atlanta, GA.


Required Qualifications


  • Must personally embrace GFM’s purpose, vision, values and statement of faith and identify as a maturing believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Demonstrated experience in building authentic, mutually-beneficial relationships with individuals and churches that result in $5K+ in annual giving.
  • A passion for generosity and helping churches and major givers understand the role their finances can play in the Kingdom.
  • Must demonstrate humility, teachability, and an ability to work well with others
  • Must display advanced interpersonal and communication skills (Gmail, Slack, etc.)
  • Must function well both independently and in a team environment

Recommended Experience


  • A College Degree is preferred but not required; informal trainings in fundraising, management, organization, and or ministry are also acceptable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement best development practices and processes to grow relationships that can be sustained by the GFM staff, board, and the Advancement team
  • Develop meaningful relationships with GFM’s key givers, to ensure they understand GFM’s vision and the impact of their giving, and feel valued as a part of our collective mission.
  • Identify and qualify prospective givers, and engage them in understanding their passions to discern whether a financial partnership with GFM would be mutually beneficial.
  • Sustain and expand donor relationships through the development of personalized stewardship plans and possess the discipline to consistently engage donors in growing their relationship with GFM.
  • Through small group meetings or large presentations, share updates and compelling calls to action with churches and key groups of potential champions.
  • Support the overall donor and fundraising strategy by coordinating with Director of Advancement, GFM Executive Director, staff, and board to identify new prospects with information.
  • Connect financial and donor information with development opportunities
  • Provide scripts for development conversations
  • Assist in developing a 3 year and 10 strategic plan with SMART development goals
  • Must stay informed of the needs and opportunities within GFM.
