GFM believes the main purpose for short-term missions opportunities is to MOBILIZE the body of Christ to reach the nations, both individually and as a local church. We accomplish this by strategically combining cross-cultural TRAINING and HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE with refugees, immigrants, and/or international students. We challenge participants to MULTIPLY the message by sharing it with others, therefore being a catalyst for change in their fields of influence.
We have been told countless times that our short-term opportunities have:
- changed the trajectory of people’s lives
- expanded their understanding of the Great Commission
- increased their capacity to love foreigners and unreached people groups
- forever impacted the way they read their Bibles
- transformed their walks with Christ
GFM’s Global Missions Journeys are strategically designed to provide equipping opportunities for groups and churches that desire to learn how to serve cross-culturally as well as share Christ with unreached people groups. God is bringing the nations to our back doorstep and our hope is to help others begin the process of obeying God’s command to “love the foreigner”. (Deuteronomy 10:19)
GFM strongly believes that gospel workers are most effective when they are well equipped for kingdom work. Therefore, we have seasoned missionaries and gifted speakers to train your group in topics including cultural sensitivity, cross cultural servanthood, the biblical basis of missions, state of the world, evangelism and discipleship.
Our training, coupled with a cross-cultural experience, is a powerful combination that often generates long-term change in the lives of short-term participants, as well as their local church. We challenge all participants to pray, give, go, welcome, mobilize, and make disciples as a Great Commission lifestyle rather than viewing these short-term mission trips as an experience to check off the list.
We are proud members of the Standards of Excellence in Short Term Mission which guarantees that our short-term missions programs have been evaluated by other missions organizations and have met the seven standards of excellence in short-term mission which are: God-centeredness, empowering partnerships, mutual design, comprehensive administration, qualified leadership, appropriate training, and thorough follow-up.
Numerous participants have come back to join us for summer internships, missionary training school, or long-term involvement . We love building long-term relationships and partnerships with local churches who have a heart to see the gospel reach every tribe, nation, and tongue.
Our desire is that as a result of your experience you will ask soul searching questions such as “Lord, how can I be a part of bringing You glory among all nations? How can I join You in Your purposes locally and internationally? What do You want me to do next?”
Our short-term missions trips are a perfect opportunity for professionals or families that otherwise have a hard time traveling far distances or getting off of school/work to serve. At this time we are only able to to offer limited short-term mission trips to our Richmond location, as we are searching for a short-term missions coordinator. Atlanta has trips available throughout the year. As God provides more laborers in the future, we hope to add new GFM locations. Learn more about our philosophy of short term missions as well.
