A Live-Learn Mentorship to Accelerate Your Ministry in South Asia
You’re Already Called. You’re Already Sent. Now, Get Acclimated — Fast.
If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’ve already answered the call.
You’ve completed cross-cultural training.
You’re backed by a sending church or mission organization.
You have a target people group.
And you’re ready to engage one of the world’s most spiritually strategic yet challenging regions: South Asia.
But you also know the reality: arriving on the field is just the beginning. The first 6–18 months can be overwhelming—marked by language frustration, cultural confusion, isolation, and slow relational progress.
That’s where SLICE (Strategy, Language, Identity, Culture, Exalting Jesus) comes in—not as another classroom-based training program, but as a live-learn mentorship community designed to help already-sent workers shortcut the steep curve of cultural acclimation and launch into meaningful ministry with confidence.
Operated by Global Frontier Missions (GFM), SLICE walks alongside cross-cultural workers for 6 months to 2 years in a major South Asian city with access to diverse ethnic and linguistic groups—including Hindi, Urdu, Bengali (Bangla), and Nepali speakers.
Our goal? To help you thrive, not just survive—to move from “figuring it out” to making disciples faster, deeper, and more sustainably.
This Isn’t Another Training Program. It’s a Launchpad for Real Ministry.
Let’s be clear: SLICE is not MTS. It’s not Perspectives. It’s not seminary.
Most participants come to us after completing formal training programs through organizations like Wycliffe, Pioneers, Frontiers, OMF, YWAM, and others. You’re not here to start your journey—you’re here to accelerate it.
We exist for those who are:
- Already commissioned and supported
- Assigned to an unreached people group
- Facing the daunting task of language acquisition and cultural integration
- Wanting to avoid the common pitfalls of early field life
SLICE meets you in that critical transition phase—between arrival and impact—by providing:
- Intensive, immersive language learning (20+ hrs/week)
- Daily cultural engagement in a multi-ethnic urban hub
- Personalized coaching from seasoned missionaries
- A close-knit, Christ-centered community

This isn’t theoretical. This is on-the-ground discipleship—a residency-style experience where life itself becomes your curriculum.
Why Train with Us?
At GFM, we’ve been equipping and sending cross-cultural workers into South Asia for over a decade. We've trained laborers from six continents to not just land on the field—but to stay, thrive, and bear lasting fruit. SLICE was born out of real experience, shaped by the challenges and victories of dozens of missionaries who have gone before you.
We understand the complexities of entering unreached areas—the language barriers, the cultural disconnects, the identity tensions, the spiritual battles. That’s why this program is more than a course. It’s a launchpad for long-term effectiveness.
What sets SLICE apart:
Testimonials
Strategy
While respecting each participant’s sending context, SLICE emphasizes dependence on the Holy Spirit in evangelism, discipleship, and partnership with local believers. Weekly strategy sessions help workers evaluate methods, assess fruitfulness, and refine approaches in light of biblical principles and cultural realities.
Language
Without language, long-term discipleship is impossible. In the first six months, participants invest 20+ hours per week in intensive language learning using the Growing Redemptive Participator Approach (GRPA). Paired with trained local nurturers, learners develop listening comprehension, relational communication, and cultural discernment—not just vocabulary.

Whether studying Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, or Nepali, language is treated as an act of love, a tool for trust-building, and a pathway to deeper gospel witness.
Identity
In many parts of South Asia, presence without purpose raises suspicion. A credible professional or academic identity—such as teaching, business development, or research—is essential for long-term access and relational credibility.
SLICE mentors walk alongside participants to align their outward roles with Kingdom purposes, ensuring authenticity before both authorities and neighbors.
Culture
Culture shapes belief, behavior, and belonging. Through intentional engagement—with guidance from experienced missionaries—participants learn to interpret social norms, navigate religious sensitivities, and identify both barriers and bridges to the Gospel.
This is not observational anthropology, but participatory discipleship: learning how to enter communities with humility, wisdom, and integrity.
Exalting Jesus
Amidst linguistic challenges, cultural disorientation, and spiritual opposition, maintaining devotion to Christ is paramount. Through corporate worship, Scripture study, prayer gatherings, and personal discipleship, SLICE fosters a community where Jesus remains central—even in difficulty.
Burnout often begins when ministry displaces relationship with Christ. Here, spiritual formation precedes and undergirds missional activity.
Structure of the Residency
SLICE is intentionally residential and relational. Life together forms the foundation for growth.
- Duration: Minimum 6 months; recommended up to 2 years
- Cohorts Begin: January/February and July/August annually
- Weekly Rhythm Includes:
- 20+ hours of language learning (first 6 months)
- Afternoon seminars on Strategy, Identity, and Culture
- Weekly worship, Bible study, and intercession
- Individual coaching and progress reviews

As participants grow in confidence and capacity, they are invited to mentor incoming workers—continuing a cycle of service, leadership, and mutual edification.
Housing is arranged upon arrival in a secure, furnished apartment within a multi-ethnic urban center offering proximity to rural areas, neighboring countries, and diverse people groups (Tribal, Hindu, Unreligious, Muslim, Buddhist).
