During Global Frontier Missions' Missionary Training School (MTS), we provide excellent training that every person going into cross-cultural missions should have, no matter what type of ministry they will be doing!
In addition to the core MTS curriculum, we have several different “specializations” that will give missionaries the option to hone specialized skills that can be used in expanding God’s Kingdom. Some of these specializations may help missionaries learn skills that could provide legitimate access and open doors into restricted countries or areas. These specializations give additional skills, certifications, and expertise that will help missionaries thrive on the mission field!
Through the Agricultural Missions Program, participants will learn best practices in sustainable agriculture based on the Foundations for Farming principles while also learning how to teach these same principles to others. Our students will have time dedicated to cross-cultural evangelism within the GFM community garden and the larger Clarkston community, allowing them to be ready to serve the nations in both word and deed.
Over the years, Business as Mission (BAM) has proven to be an effective strategy that allows missionaries to enter difficult-to-access communities while bringing about positive community transformation. Participants will be trained in one of two tracks: kingdom employment for those that would like to work overseas for an already existing company or Business as Mission (BAM) for those that are more wired as entrepreneurs to start new businesses. The BAM program will include a biblical framework for living on mission in the marketplace, along with individualized mentoring and coaching based on your skills and passions, as well as practical experience working alongside kingdom-minded business people. Learning how to integrate faith and work on the mission field could open doors among many of the world's unreached people groups.
Earn college credit or even a degree! Many missions sending agencies require specific Bible and ministry-related credits to join them; these certificates and degrees may fulfill some or all of the requirements and pre-requisites for some missions organizations. These credits could go a long way in fulfilling the requirements of a sending organization, obtaining a staff position with a church, or potentially granting you a visa in your mission field. We partner with Crown College, Eternity Bible College, and Covenant Theological Seminary to award transfer credit, certificates, or degrees as well as continued education opportunities.
We are excited about having additional "specializations" in the future. We are actively praying that God would bring us more staff and local ministry partners who offer expertise in the following areas:
Trauma Care - Trauma exists in abundance across cultures, traditions, family systems, and people groups. GFM wants to equip cross-cultural workers to share the love of Jesus through providing trauma care opportunities.
Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA) - In many parts of the world, knowing English can open doors for educational opportunities, career advancement, social integration, and countless other areas of personal development. GFM is seeking to equip and train missionaries to be able to teach ESL in other cultural contexts.
Diaspora Ministry - Displaced persons are faced with unique challenges as they are often seeking to adjust to a new culture and country. GFM wants to equip missionaries to be able to holistically care for displaced people physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Medical Missions - Access to healthcare continues to be one of the most pressing needs around the world. GFM wants to help equip missionaries seeking to enter into medical missions with the necessary skills as mission-minded healthcare clinics and providers.
Family Program - Parents and children will get specialized training and coaching for the unique challenges that families face when going to the mission field. The kids will get age appropriate training on the topics that the adults are learning: spiritual warfare, learning language, culture shock, how to deal with transitions, etc. The parents will also get weekly coaching with some tips on things to talk through as a family in order to prepare for launching overseas.
