MTS Degree vs Non-Degree

The traditional path of GFM's Missionary Training School is the “non-degree" route. It involves the least amount of academic work, providing students with more time for discipleship and hands-on experience in the foreign-born community. However, some students request a more academic route, which may be important to parents, sending church, receiving country, or their missions agency. For them, we offer a “degree route” with increased work (and some additional cost). GFM has no preference whether students go the degree or non-degree route; we encourage each student to seek the Lord regarding the better route for them in their missions career.

The weekly expectations and requirements for these two routes of training are detailed below:

A student who desires the degree route must submit a paper (length dependent on desired degree) prior to joining MTS, ensuring the student's writing level is proficient enough to pursue college level credit. After a grader reviews the paper, the student will be notified of their status in pursuit of a degree and whether or not they have been approved.
