You will spend the first five months of your apprenticeship receiving holistic, cross-cultural education and experience through our Missionary Training School in the Atlanta area. You’ll wrestle with important missional topics in the classroom, serve among refugees and immigrants with local long-term ministries, and receive discipleship from our member care staff. Read about one student's experience at MTS.

Once in South Asia, you will participate in our SLICE program with heavy mentoring and hands-on experience in the areas of Strategy, Language, Identity, Culture, and Exalting Jesus. You’ll focus on learning Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, or Bengali while being coached on how to thrive and not just survive in South Asia. Read about a typical week during the SLICE program.

Train and Go: South Asia is a great way to get a taste of the mission field to discover if serving as a long-term missionary among Hindus or Muslims might be for you.

This program has two start dates: one in January and one in August. The recommended individual missionary support for the train and go apprenticeship is about $3,000 per month, paid before starting the program, which GFM will use to provide all housing and programming during the experience. Individuals are responsible for food and transportation.

This “gap year” type opportunity is a perfect chance to gain cross-cultural missions experience in the United States working with refugees, followed by frontier missions' exposure in the heart of the 10/40 window in a country with more than 2,000 unreached people groups.
